Using Flexible Boosters to customise your T-Mobile contract

April 11th, 2010

Customers signing up to T-Mobile contracts after February 2010 have supporting “Flexible Boosters” – a feature can be used to customise your contract for extra calls or texts and occasionally cut your phone bills too.

What are flexible boosters?

Flexible boosters are add-ons to T-Mobile Pay Monthly contracts. Every T-Mobile Pay Monthly contract (including SIM only tariffs) is bundled with one free flexible booster and you will receive one free flexible booster regardless of the price point of your tariff (i.e. whether you’re on the cheapest £10/month contract or on the most expensive contract you will get a free flexible booster). Additional flexible boosters can be purchased for £5/month.

Customers who purchase T-Mobile contracts with an Android smartphone will also receive a free “unlimited” internet flexible booster with 3GB fair usage. This internet flexible booster is required for the phone to work correctly so is offered for free in addition to another flexible booster. We particularly like the combination of an unlimited texts booster and an unlimited internet booster – both of which would be free when purchasing an Android smartphone on T-Mobile (such as the HTC Desire). The combination of these two flexible boosters give you “unlimited” texts and internet from £10/month – a pretty good combination.

Existing customers could also find that they save money by purchasing an additional flexible booster – for example if you currently spend £10/month on calls to landlines, you could save money by purchasing the £5 unlimited landline talk booster.

There is more information on Flexible Boosters at the T-Mobile website.

How often can you change your flexible boosters?

You can change your Flexible Boosters every 30 days.

Is it worth signing up for extra flexible boosters?

Check to see if any of the flexible boosters above would save you more than £5/month. If so, you’ll save money with that Flexible Booster. For example, if you currently make 20 minutes of calls to the USA per month, you’ll spend £14/month on those calls. With the Flexible Booster, that comes down to £5/month.

How do I sign up to T-Mobile?

You can order Pay Monthly contracts and SIM only contracts through the T-Mobile website.

We recommend the HTC Wildfire Android smartphone (reviewed here) – with the correct choice of flexible boosters you can have 100 minutes, unlimited texts and 3GB internet on a cutting edge smartphone for £99 upfront and £10/month.
