so just so I understand (Im a £10 a month type user and really hating orange who have just put up their costs this month)
£10 gets turned into £30
£30 /. 20p = 150 mins

If only I could get 02 / giff gaff where I live

It's quite simple 20p per minute but with the free tripled credit it is divided by 3 thus 6.6 pence per minute. Texts at 10p therefore cost 3.3p each. THAT is the actual cost BUT don't over-credit your mobile because you have to be able to use the free credit up before the date in the month when the it expires.

the only trouble with changing is everyone knows your phone number and its a hassle to tell everyone your new number,I know you say you can get it ported but I know the hassle of that too!!!
I have used tesco mobile for 2 years now with the £2 a week internet but now its changing to £5 a month so thats better? I top up by £10 a month and when my £20 free credit gets used up and the initial top up gets used by them taking £2 a week from so I only used £10 a month for 500gb data and free calls and texts which works out great for me

yes ross, ive found the same problem
when i text balance to 2112 i find ive used £2 ££££££, ..where did that go ????
triple your cedit sounds great, as long as you dont use your phone !!!!!!!
ive got an i phone, and will chang providers when my free internet runs out in three months
if more people start to movefrom tesco they might start treating customers more fairly

Just cancelled my tesco payg triple your credit, I only use my phone occassionally and most of the months I've had it there has beenan over £20 limit left but unable to carry forward to the next month. but according to them in the last20 days I've used £40 pound plus ,what a load of bull!How can you argue with the invisible man, even braved the blizzard to go to instore phoneshop. but no satisfaction.well just transfer to Asda and hope for a better deal!

Yes but Tesco's International charges are cheaper. If you are abroad Tesco is 18p + 1sec increments. Asda is 36p and 30 sec increments.

But, you can’t use the free credit for calls from abroad – we bought the 99p SIM for use as a “holiday phone” and only found the small print once you opened the package – very annoying and misleading.

Thanks for your comment. We have mentioned Tesco’s lite tariff before on this website. However, this article is reviewing Tesco’s main PAYG product which they advertise. The reason this is a slightly misleading offer is because credit on the main tariff is actually worth less than that on the lite tariff. “Triple your credit” is a worthless argument when credit has different meanings across different tariffs and networks.

Tesco also has a “lite” payg tariff which costs the same as ASDA. Plus you get Tesco points when you top up. Its unfair to knock their tariff that offers the credit tripling as being more expensive when they have an offering that is the same as ASDA, or cheaper if you count the points.
