New Blog Theme

May 13th, 2006

I got a little sick/bored of the old pink design on my blog which I introduced last October. This new design was put together quite quickly over the last few days. I wanted the design to be simple and I kept the colour palette from the old site so hopefully it’s still recognizable. Again, I’m not going to claim to be an artist because I’m not - this design probably still has edges to be ironed out and bugs to be fixed.

The design is actually based off an experimental design I created for Geneone a few months back which in turn was trying to imitate the layout of the Mozilla Firefox page. (Don’t treat any of the information in this screenshot as real; they’re simply placeholders)

With the blog template, I decided to be a little different and go for a dark background and light text (doesn’t seem to be as popular as it used to be) and add a phat footer to give it more "2.0". I’ve included links to 5 of my favourite blogs and a few of the projects I’m involved in in the footer. Hopefully this should provide a nice exit point for visitors. Originally I had the Categories and Latest Comments list in the footer too but it was a little too 2.0 for my liking Theres still a little bit of space for bookmarks so I might sign up for del.icio.us and give it a go.

Of course, any comments welcomed.

    I am impressed.

Although imho the footer is too big. There is plenty of space along the lefthand side for that information.
