Know your pain about the spam, using WordPress I've been able to block my spammers via their IPs and using code words.

But I'm looking for new blog software as WordPress is useless in other areas.

i've never been a big fan of captcha. It doesn't always work right and the last time I heard it doesn't have support for colorblind people (which is a pretty big percentage).

Actually to be honest, I don't particularly like CAPTCHAs much either. The CAPTCHAs used here seem to be black and white so shouldn't affect any colourblind people but will affect blind people or those who may have trouble recognising letters in a load of junk.

At the moment my blog doesn't support code words, IP blocking and other spam prevention methods so the CAPTCHA was the only line of defense and it was quite easy to implement. Perhaps when I put in the rest and it works effectively then CAPTCHAs can be turned off.
