Britain is world’s favourite nation
February 22nd, 2006
Brand Republic and The Inquirer reports on the Anholt Nation Brands Index which rated the UK as the world’s favourite nation brand "after scoring well on investment, sports, cultural heritage and its highly skilled and educated people". Switzerland came 2nd and Canada came third.
Brand Republic adds:
The survey, the fourth of its kind, relegated the $18 trillion US to 10th place, finding that the States was the nation that most divided opinion. The world’s only remaining superpower, while scoring highly for product brands, pop culture, investment and technology, came near the bottom for cultural heritage, governance and for ignorance, while France were rated the world’s rudest nation.
Nice.

I would have to disagree with alot of that. Other countries are much better than Britain, Canada, Germany, Norway etc. I would have rated these much higher.
Second, the US is most definitely not the only remaining superpower.
I like Britain and I personally am quite fed up with people who go on about how crap the UK is, chavs, Blair, et al. There are a lot of great things in the UK such as the history, the multi-faith society and of course the BBC. The UK won the Olympics in 2012 so the UK must be a great nation; it can’t be a fluke. I think Britain deserves it.
Thanks to Khlo for remembering that Britain is not a country - God, that annoys me. In that survey, they should’ve done England, Wales etc. separately.
I feel that Britian is a great group of countries that is very diverse and offers loads of oppertunities for its residents and for other people as well. We may not be the most powerful nations, but we know how to work. Our history is one to be proud of, specifically England’s (hey, no one’s perfect).
