Opera 9 Preview 2

Opera 9 Preview 2 is set to be released tommorow. I currently have Opera 9 Preview 1, although Firefox 1.5 is still my preferred browser.

The new widgets feature allows you to have widgets on your desktop in a similar way to Konfabulator. It uses F8, like Konfabulator. The widgets can be built in CSS, Javascript, HTML which gives them a big advantage over Konfabulator. Konfabulator widgets are a pain to write since they use obscure XML tags and the documentation is poor. If Opera’s widgets are also compatible with Dashboard widgets, this immediately gives people a way to run Dashboard widgets on any platform and an easy way to write widgets which will work on any platform.

This should be a great feature and I’d love to see it in Firefox.

The preview also contains BitTorrent in just 24K! Awesome! There are multiple extensions which add BitTorrent support to Firefox but none of them are near usable or complete.
