this isnt just cpu resource heavy, it used 400mb in cache to calculate the image

Obvious first thing you could do to speed it up is remove that unnecessary sqrt() call from the main loop body, and just check if |z|>4 instead.

I’ve updated the source with Tim’s fix, it seems to cut roughly about 40% from the execution time. Also a bug fix so it works properly when you generate a rectangular image.
