Mozilla XTech Presentations
May 19th, 2006
Mozilla Developer Centre has 5 XTech 2006 presentations which discuss some of the things on the forefront of
- JavaScript 2 and the Future of the Web - Brendan Eich
- Layout Algorithm Improvements for Web User Interfaces - David Baron
- Microsummaries in Firefox and on the Web - Myk Melez
- SVG and Canvas: Graphics for Web Apps - Vladimir Vukićević
- Converging Rich-Client and Web Application Development with Mozilla XULRunner (Open Office format) - Benjamin Smedberg
The Javascript 2 presentation will probably be of particular interest to those "Web 2.0 Developers". It discusses some existing issues with Javascript and what changes there will be in Javascript 2 which is due in 2007.
The SVG and Canvas presentation was of particular interest to me. I’m a big fan of canvas (the reflection script uses canvas). The presentation compares SVG and canvas and concludes with a screenshot of the 3D canvas context.
